Addresses

If you’re writing an address within a single line, use commas to separate the parts of the address except right before the post code.

If you’re writing an address across multiple lines, don’t use commas between line breaks.

Emails

Always put emails at the end of a sentence following a colon, for accessibility reasons.

Emails should always be written in bold and properly hyperlinked.

Phone numbers

Local numbers

When writing UK phone numbers, always include the ‘0’ at the beginning, and use a space after the area codes. Just note that the spacing for each region and number types varies.

There’s no need to use parentheses.

International numbers

If you’re writing for an international audience or the locale isn’t clear, always include the country code.

Use spaces, parentheses, and any other punctuation according to how they’re locally formatted.

Websites

Don’t include the ‘www.’ that precedes a website URL.

Always properly hyperlink the web address to the corresponding website.
